I met Jay Becker 10 Years ago while in my 20's looking for a piece of property in San Diego. I had just moved from Chicago and my budget was at the very low end! I was having trouble finding an agent who took me seriously. I went through two before him. My Bank actually gave me Jay's card. Our first phone conversation was all I needed to trust him. He was willing to take the TIME and EFFORT. Something I was not finding other agents. He is very down to earth and actually drove me to the airport after viewing a property. He sold me my first condo in 2011. Fast forward to 2021. We just closed on our dream home. We had another agent we were working with due to knowing the specific neighborhood we wanted to be in. She was terrible and I could hardly get through one offer with her before I knew I needed Jay. The next home we saw pop up we immediately called Jay and we're able to seal the deal in a day. My husband and I had been low-key searching the housing market in SD for a majority of 2020…and mostly just feeling sad about it all because everything seemed to cost an arm and both legs. I can confidently say that Jay Becker and his team are the best Agents in San Diego by a long shot. I worked with Jay on my first home purchase in 2013 and again just recently when we bought our 2nd home in San Diego. In 2013 we purchased a townhome in Crown Point San Diego that Jay said was a very wise investment and that turned out to be true as property value has increased 30% since we purchased. I knew absolutely nothing about buying a property but Jay makes it easy and will educate you along the way. Just recently Jay guided us through our 2nd home purchase in the "Burbs" Of Rancho Penasquitos ... He played an instrumental role in helping my wife and I come out on top and a very sought after home that had over 10 competing offers on it. The thing that stands out with Jay right away is his experience level. Jay knows the entire San Diego Market like the back of his hand. He may tell you he specializes in coastal properties but we wanted to buy a home in Rancho Penasquitos and Jay came through all the same. He brought us properties that hadn't even hit the market yet so that we could better understand the bang for your buck in "PQ"... but he has been through every possible scenario that can come up in a home purchase or sale and he handles them all with grace and Class. I came to Jay 3 other times over the last 5 years when we were thinking of making another purchase and each time we decided at the last stage to back out because for whatever reason the timing wasn't right. We met Jay Becker at the Sotheby's office on Prospect St in La Jolla, California. His personal magnetism and professionalism prompted us to invite him to our home for an interview. He arrived fully prepared with area comps and a wealth of research he had done on market values. He spoke with us for about three hours explaining everything we needed to know about selling our home in La Jolla. As our agent, Jay worked tirelessly in putting together a high end package for the sale of our home including marketing, advertising, a superbly done and dynamic video of our home and suggestions for staging our home to be more suitable to a wide range of buyers. He was very selective in choosing those buyers that would be capable of purchasing a home in our price range. Upon finding a potential buyer, Jay really went to work. I very *rarely* endorse anything or anyone. However, I was compelled to make an exception for Jay Becker of Sotheby's. From the introduction phase Jay was very personable, non-pushy, had a not-a-salesman attitude, and he was very knowledgeable. I was impressed both with his patience and being readily available almost 24x7. I truly liked his professionalism and representation of us when we finally "won" out on a multiple-bid property. If you're looking for a realtor and are in the San Diego area, you would be crazy not to use Jay!

This was the second time that we worked with Jay Becker. The first time, he was our buying agent and although we were under a tight timeline to buy a house, Jay patiently worked with us and always put our benefits first before his. He was very professional and delivered perfectly and we were able to purchase a beautiful house in Sorrento Valley. We happily lived in the house for 3 years and due to business reasons, we decided to move to Bay area and sell the house. Since it was later in the summer that we decided to list our house, the market was slowing down and it wasn't much time left to the end of summer and start of school as we had to make sure the house selling will not cause my son to miss the beginning of school or change of school at the middle of the year. So, we were not sure how the process will go and if we are able to make the moving happen on time, this time our timeline was even tighter. After bringing Jay up to speed, it was such a relief that he assured us that if one agent in town can deliver the best value sell under our time limit, will be him. And sure he did deliver again. During the the listing was official on MLS, through pre-listing marketing he was able to bring so much interest to our house and we received two very good offers of which the second was higher and better term and we accepted it before we were on MLS. He was able to get the most value out of the improvements we made in the house, despite of some negative comps in the area. He found the perfect buyer who appreciated how we have improved exterior and interior of the house, that's why he broke the neighborhood's record on selling price of houses similar to ours. Everything went smoothly during the contingency period and the house closed in almost 3 weeks. He was even able to negotiate a 2 week rent back from the buyers so we get enough time to pack and move. With lots of good memory from San Diego and our Sorrento Valley house, we are exploring Silicon Valley and enjoying our new place. Thanks to Jay, we were able to pull this move off successfully.

We met Jay at one of his listings when we were only casually looking. That house wasn't right but Jay's enthusiasm for the area turned us into serious buyers while his experience, knowledge and low-pressure style convinced us he was the right fit for our agent. Jay immediately confirmed our decision with his insightful assessment of the list of houses we had identified. He listened to and observed our reactions during showings to come up with additional properties. He even took notes on each property, so that he could help us remember things about the different houses. When we were a little stuck, Jay proactively searched out under construction properties and listings not yet on the market. Throughout the search process we found his advice invaluable and directed at finding a house to meet our needs foremost. He was very patient, never pressured us and was always responsive. Once we found the right house, he went to work to make it ours. Jay advised us on the offer and then successfully negotiated to get it for less than what we would have paid. Jay was just as attentive after contract acceptance as he was during the search. There were some repairs needed that many sellers would not have done, but Jay got them to do everything we asked for. His negotiating style is not antagonistic at all, which preserved a good relationship with the seller. He kept in close contact during the process leading up to closing to ensure that nothing fell through the cracks. When we had a reluctant title officer, he called someone he knew to walk the property and make us feel completely comfortable. He continued to check on repair progress up to the final walk-through. Even after closing, Jay has continued to work for us, checking in to make sure everything is okay. We always felt that he put our needs first. His integrity, thoroughness, work ethic and experience make it easy for us to recommend him to anyone looking for a new home.  We had recently bought a house thru Jay Becker. Ours was one of the tough Escrows as the seller party was least cooperative and had extremely difficult selling agent. Here is where Jay's vast experience in handling differrent kinds of Transaction came into play. Jay handled this extremely difficult selling agent in whatever best possible way he could. In many cases he went above and beyond that buyer's i.e. mine interests are taken care of.... Our was competitive situation where we came across multiple offers. Jay's wisdom in tackling a tough Seller Agent along with thought process in terms of how to win a multiple offer situation proved to be boon for us. It was due to Jay's sharp mind and situation awareness that we were able to have our offer selected amongst multiple offers In our situation Seller wished to continue staying in the house for a month or so after close of Escrow. Jay made sure that proper Move-in/ Move-out form was filled up making sure SELLER continues to take care of the house in best possible even while he was renting. Since, I have been first time home buyer, I had tons of questions and confusions. Jay was always extremely patient with me and like a great mentor kept guiding me across thru the entire process. Jay is the best agent you could ever imagine. He is way different than the agents I have seen so far.

He is professional, responsive, knowledgeable, respectful, and more above all he is not pushy at all. He listens to your requirements, and throughout the process makes sure they are his priorities versus other agents who try to form their recommendations and support around the commission numbers.

His connections around the industry will help you get the job done. During our house hunting process, we first put an offer and went to Escrow on a house located in La Jolla. But, after investigating we figured the house had some foundation problems which might not be an issue for some, but it was for us. So, we decided to cancel. Although he lost significant amount of commission which he deserved for such hard work, he never showed any attitude and never gave up till the last moment and always acted classy and

San Diego is experiencing a sellers' market. Some properties are receiving 10-15 offers over night, which was the case while we were searching. I worked with Jay Becker for a few years as me and my wife got into the market for our first home. He showed us a ton of properties over about a 2 year period, and helped us put offers on a few. He spent many full afternoons with us driving us around, and the whole time was teaching us about the process. Jay is extremely thorough, patient, and puts absolutely no pressure on the buyer. Jay Becker at LUXREHOMES was referred to us by a good friend because we were tired of dealing with other agents that weren't qualified enough or were too aggressive and pushy. My friend highly recommended Jay and boy he was right!

With Jay's immense knowledge and tact, we were able to successfully secure an offer on a short sale property that had 6 other offers. Jay was also instrumental in dealing directly with the short-sale co-ordinator to speed the process up and close faster. As a result, we were able to close this short-sale property within 6-8 weeks of making the original offer.

Throughout the process, Jay was always polite, friendly, attentive to every single detail and made the home purchase process a breeze which is a welcome change for first time home-owners like us. He always educated us on each and every aspect of the home purchase process and was always available to address any questions/concerns that we had.

We are coming up on the one year anniversary of living in our new home, and are still talking to friends about the great results of working with Jay. A lot of folks can show you property, but in the end as a buyer you need an agent who is going to help you actually acquire property. Aside from being a stellar person - Jay was clear, direct, and informed. His negotiating abilities on our behalf were remarkable. His persistence and follow through with passive and resisting parties was the difference between getting our dream house or not. (That's a big difference!) Jay and his team did a fantastic job of locating the oceanfront condo we were looking for.
