Candelas on the Bay- Address: 1201 1st Street, #115, San Diego, CA 92118 – Fine Dining

Not only does Candelas on the Bay have a prime location with a beautiful view of Downtown San Diego, it has inventive Mexican cuisine that promises guests an interesting and special dining experience. One of the best parts of Candelas on the Bay is the exciting scene of Coronado beachgoers and the San Diego Bay that can be seen from every seat in the house. This restaurant is the sister restaurant of Candelas Downtown and carries over the same creative “Mexico City” style dishes created by Executive Chef Eduardo Baeza. This restaurant is suitable for people willing to test their palates and try new flavor combinations, and for those looking to enjoy the San Diego skyline.

The seaside city of Del Mar holds an array of charms, but until you’ve experienced a meal at Sbicca, you’ll not know how charming it can be. Owned and run by husband-and-wife team Dan and Susan Sbicca, the seaside restaurant is a quintessential neighborhood bistro. The restaurant proper offers an open, airy setting and comfortable vibe, while a separate bistro bar is a gathering place for locals, with an outstanding wine selection and a renowned happy hour. While Dan manages the front of the house, Susan runs the kitchen, putting together an array of refreshing, modern American cuisine that melds regional flavors, incorporates global ingredients, and doesn’t hesitate to play up comfort food favorites.

Whisknladle - Address: 1044 Wall Street, La Jolla, CA 92037 -  Casual Dining

The new project of Arturo Kassel and Ryan Johnston, Whisknladle, is one of most honest, down-to-earth, and genuine restaurants around. The transformed space, which was once home to Fresh[er], now houses a contemporary neighborhood bistro with a back-to-basics approach. Johnston’s menu celebrates local sources, house-made provisions, and traditional preparations, while Kassel’s wine list, as before, is focused on quality and diversity. Guests will find small plates, seasonal creations, and a truly welcoming space that now boasts an after-hours lounge as a casual nightlife destination.

Georges California Modern  - Address: 1250 Prospect Street, La Jolla, CA 92037  - Casual and Fine Dining Options

A new concept in fine dining, Georges California Modern is the result of a contemporary renovation of the beloved George’s at the Cove Fine Dining Restaurant in La Jolla.  Beaumont’s – 5662 La Jolla Blvd, La Jolla, CA 92037 – Casual Dining

A light fare eatery with a pleasant atmosphere that becomes livelier as great local musicians begin around 9 pm on most nights. Beaumont’s firmly maintains its status as the premier neighborhood eatery in La Jolla’s Birdrock area. Most nights the tables are filled with an interesting mix of families, and local residents. Scott Cathcart’s menu, contains some global influences in dishes such as Argentinean fire-roasted tri-tip, Mexican pork chile relleno, Mediterranean bouillabaisse and miso-glazed organic king salmon. These dishes are prepared competently; but all else pales in comparison to the Beaumont burger. This hearty combination of beef, pork and veal is topped with balsamic-glazed onions, sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese and basil aïoli. These restaurateurs also own the La Jolla Village favorite Brocton Villa overlooking the La Jolla Cove.

At this family-run Italian restaurant, Chef-owner Cinzia (pronounced chin-see-ah) Mezzetti has transported the essence of his Milan birthplace to the charming Pacific Beach setting. As a native who knows the niceties of Mediterranean dining, Cinzia prides herself with a variety of homemade pastas, specialty dishes and thin crust pizza's which are a local favorite.  Co-Owner Francesco Mezzetti completes the authenticity of a good family run restaurant

Tower 23 - 4551 Ocean Blvd where Feldspar meet the ocean, Pacific Beach – Casual to Fine Dining

Surf: Sky: Spirit is a new kind of oceanfront dining experience in San Diego. A contemporary steak and seafood restaurant, JRDN features casually sophisticated California fresh cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.  It is location is ideally situated right on the ocean next to Crystal Pier. Light fare and full menu bistro. Great atmosphere to marvel the sunset, and part of a boutique hotel similar in styling to the Mondrian in LA. Our favorites are the Lobster BLT with Cajon fries, and the beet salad.

California has a relaxed approach to dining. None of the fine dining establishments require jackets, in fact with respect to most, jeans are acceptable in restaurants that are referred to as Fine Dining.
