San Diego - Coastal-Desert Climate

The weather in San Diego is considered to be perhaps one of the most desirable climates in the country, and to some, perhaps the entire world. Ambient ranges of temperature are within comfortable ranges to many, which make this area desirable for outdoor activities 12 month per year.  Winter months range from 52-67 degrees F in the day time, and summer months range from 60-76 degrees F.

As you move away from the coast the presence of micro-climates create significant temperature ranges from very short distance away. It is not uncommon for temperatures to be 10 or 20 degrees higher as little as 3 miles inland moving away from the coast on any given day.  Also the higher elevations can have a dramatic affect on the temperatures.

Coastal San Diego daily temperature might be 68 degrees on a winter day in December, and only 45 miles away in Mount Laguna it might be 39 with one foot of snow on the ground.  Most densely populated areas are either coast or inland of the combination of the two. San Diego residents like the flexibility to surf and ski in the same day.
