East Lake is a series of recently developed master planned communities and neighborhoods that began development in the mid 1980's. Gorgeous affordable homes, new school, shopping centers all came to existence to provide new homes and new starts for many San Diegans. Although it is an additional cost that needs to be considered as part of the monthly housing expense in addition to the mortgage payment, generally the homes within the area are newer construction and their relative prices are less than that of other surrounding communities.
